SWAN GIRL
PHOTO DIARY

APRIL 2025

It is kind of strange to think that 2025 is one-third of the way done. How do we measure time anymore? There is still an ongoing genocide in Palestine, civil unrest in United States, and a slow descent all over the world into fascism. Yet days keep passing, turning into weeks and into months. Here I am, in a position where I can fondly reflect on the individual moments that transpired within the past month.

A big question that has come up for me continuously has been, “what is the job of the artist during such uncertain times like these?” Truthfully, I cannot say that I have found any strong answers to fulfill this question, but some things I have discovered is that we must continue to create and connect. Show up for our friends and family and those in our cities so that we can build something while continuing to give to others when we can. I am not entirely sure what the right answer to anything is right now but I think it would be amiss if I did not bring up what is happening in the world today.

For this continuous photo diary series with ENVY I am encouraged to reflect on the small stuff. What that looks like for me right now is journaling what I see and hear at the cafe, noting my passing thoughts, (trying) to stay off Instagram, and figuring out how to not rot in bed.

For now I will keep asking myself these questions and sharing my thoughts and observations. Look if you’d like.
